There’s No Time for Sickness in Fountain City With all the fun in store this holiday season, there is absolutely no time for sickness this time of year. Let’s take a look at some ways to help keep your children healthy throughout the holiday season. First, sleep is a must. While your kids might want to stay up later than usual because school is not in session, a lack of sleep can really wreak havoc on their immune systems. Also, getting them out of their normal sleep routine is only going to cause craziness when school starts again in January. Therefore, as much as they try and fight it, keeping them on their regular schedule is a good idea! Second, healthy eating habits are also a necessity this time of year. Let’s face it. Between the Christmas parties at school and the cookie decorating at home, access to sugar is at an all-time high. And if all your children are eating is sugar, sugar, sugar—then more than sugar plum fairies will be dancing in their head this holiday season. In fact, you might just be dealing with a Scrooge of a child, since sugar crashes can lead to moodiness and temper tantrums. As a result, it’s important to ensure your child is eating a balanced diet while at home during winter break. This means starting your children off with a healthy breakfast, and choosing healthy snacks throughout the day. Finally, while it’s understandable that you need to get things done, it’s important to try and limit screen time so that your children aren’t spending the entire winter break in front of the television or on their iPads or iPhones. If you need help around the house, have them lend a helping hand. And if you want to reward them for their help, take them for an adventure around town, such as a trip to go ice skating in the heart of Downtown Knoxville. Or take them to the Nativity Pageant of Knoxville, Inc., which depicts the Christmas story. The event is free of charge. See! With all of these activities, there’s no time for those kiddos to be sick over Christmas break. So as soon as a cough or sneeze becomes too much to bear, come by for a visit so that we can help your children get to feeling as good as new! No matter what you tried, did your children still land home sick during winter break? Visit AFC Urgent Care Fountain City so that we can help your child start feeling better in time for Santa to arrive!]]>
